An architecture built to be audited.
Toleron is a three-tier system — EdgeBoxes at the machines, one central server, a web dashboard — joined by a message bus with explicit identities and a permission model that fails closed. Multi-machine, multi-EdgeBox and configuration-driven by design.
- Tiers
- Edge · Central · Dashboard
- Access
- Every route classified, deny-by-default
- Deployment
- On-premises, IaC
Tiers
| Tier | Components |
|---|---|
| EdgeBox | Native acquisition · protocol connectors · local buffering · edge computation |
| Central server | Tiered time-series storage · permanent recording archive · alarm capture · signal platform · production analytics · REST + WebSocket API · local language models |
| Dashboard | Machines · recording · history · 5 dashboards · 5 reports · signal builder · AI models · Grind Master · assistant |
Two ideas that make it more than a historian
- Computation is placed, not located. A definition is written once; a planner decides whether it runs on the EdgeBox, an AI box or central. The definition does not change.
- Everything is a signal. Raw reading, reduction, classification, feature vector and model score share identity, type, read path and chart — so any output can be the input of the next step, a plot or a recording, with no special case anywhere.
Security and operations
- Login everywhere; two roles; server-side sessions revoked immediately.
- One central permission model over every API route; writes deny-by-default; completeness asserted by a test that fails the build.
- Per-device service tokens for machine-to-machine; no secrets in logs; strongly hashed passwords.
- Infrastructure as code; versioned images, never latest; backup, rollback tag and a written report per release.
- Structured logs, continuous health monitoring and per-protocol connection status in the UI.

Wiring a kilohertz block stream into a per-window step is not an error at runtime. It is a plausible-looking wrong number. The type system refuses it at authoring time.
